Reported Crime Figures for June 2005

A total of 55 crimes or offences were recorded in the month of June for the Fountainbridge area.

Thefts from licensed premises is very low this month, as is Theft by Shoplifting.

There were 7 assaults reported , all relating to domestic situations.

In relation to domestic housebreakings there no such reports this month.

Here are the crime figures for June 2005.
A total of 231 crimes or offences were recorded in the month of June for the Tollcross area.

As in previous months a large number of crimes are Thefts from within licensed premises with persons leaving property unattended.

There were 44 reports of assault, twenty eight of which were solved.
There were 3 domestic housebreakings and 3 business housebreaking reported during June.

There were no housebreakings or attempted housebreakings to either domestic or business premises during June. 3 Domestic (Hope Park Square, Panmure Place and Heriot Place), and 3 Business premises
(Golf Tavern, Lawnmarket and Castle Terrace).

Only 2 this month.
A Citroen was broken into in Bryson Road and a Ford Fiesta was broken into in Leamington Terrace.
There was only one vehicle broken into during June, this was a Vauxhall car in Panmure Place.

There was only one vehicle stolen during June, a Lancia Delta from Lochrin Place. An Audi motor car was stolen from Lauriston Street and a Volkswagen was stolen from the Grassmarket.

Pedal cycle thefts have started again. There were 5 such reports in June. (Bruntsfield Place, Leamington Terrace (2), Gilmore Place and Viewforth.) 4 of them had been secured by chains. Thefts of pedal cycles is still a problem in the Tollcross area.

There were 9 in total these occurring at George IV Bridge, Lauriston Place, Castlehill, Glengyle Tearrace, Drumdryan Street, Crichton Street, Buccleuch Street, Brougham Street and Bristo Square.
Most had the security chain cut.

Racially motivated crime Racially motivated crime
There was one racially motivated crime reported during June.

A male shouted racial abuse at another male in Yeaman Place.
Enquiries are continuing to identify the culprit.
There were two racially motivated crime reported during June.

Both were relating to the shouting of racial abuse. One occurred at the Meadows. Two young males were charged in relation to an incident in Grindlay Street.
