Reported Crime Figures for November 2005

A total of 59 crimes or offences were recorded in the month of November for the Fountainbridge area.

Thefts from licensed premises is very low this month, as is Theft by Shoplifting.

There were 8 assaults reported during November, five of which were solved.

In relation to domestic housebreakings, there were two such report this month.

A total of 259 crimes or offences were recorded in the month of November for the Tollcross area.

As in previous months a large number of crimes are Thefts from within licensed premises with persons leaving property unattended. Mobile phones are a favoured item.

There were 41 reports of assault, 22 of which were solved.

There were 8 domestic housebreakings and 7 business housebreaking reported during November.

There was an Attempted housebreaking to a flat in Gillespie Crescent.
A ground floor flat in Yeaman Place was broken into and a large quantity of property stolen. A local man has been charged and the property recovered.
There were no business break-ins during November.

The 7 Business break-ins occurred at West Port, George Square, Bank Street, North Bank Street, Lauriston Place and Buccleuch Place (2).

There were 3 vehicles broken into during November.
A white Daf van was broken into in Tay Street and a quantity of tools stolen. A handbag and contents were stolen from a blue Mazda parked in Watson Crescent. An attempt was made to break into a silver Renault in Dundee Terrace.

A blue Vauxhall Astra was stolen from Lochrin Terrace. There was one vehicle stolen during November

A gold coloured Ford Fiesta was stolen from Wrights Houses.

There were three pedal cycles reported stolen in November. (Viewforth, Leamington Terrace and Ritchie Place). All had been left secured. The number of Thefts of pedal cycles has reduced considerably this month

There were 3 in total, these occurring at Drumdryan Street, Panmure Place, and Bristo Square.

All of them had the security chain cut.

Racially Motivated Crime Racially Motivated Crime
Police Officers in Dundee Street was subjected to verbal racial abuse. A 30 year old man has been charged, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. There were three racially motivated crime reported during November.

A 20 year old male has been charged after shouting racial abuse at another male in Victoria Street.

A 22 year old male was charged with shouting racial abuse in Lothian Road.

Enquiries are continuing to trace a male in connection with racial abuse being shouted at the West Port.
